Founded on the need for rebuilding relief efforts in Nepal following the 2015 devastation of the Gorkha earthquake, Trek Relief began a fundraising campaign that inspired over forty people to raise funds, volunteer their time in rebuilding broken homes, and go on their first-ever tea house trek in the Himalayas. In just over six months, $50,000 was raised in a collective effort to provide disaster relief.

Encouraged by the great feedback on all fronts, Trek Relief's vision for the tremendous potential of this fundraising model quickly evolved into a non-profit that provides a beautiful framework for voluntourism and relief to those in need in remote parts of the world. Since inception, Trek Relief has raised over $200,000 and has extended relief to other regions of Nepal as well as Mongolia.

Candice Young, the founder of Trek Relief, witnessed the massive destruction in Langtang Valley in April 2016 and was deeply moved by the survivors' tragic situations and stories. She launched the initial fundraising campaign by partnering with a high-quality local trekking agency to help manage all of the in-country logistics. Candice and her supporters recognized the tremendous potential of this fundraising model for providing organized aid. Encouraged by great feedback on all fronts, she gathered a hand-selected team and evolved this campaign into a non-profit that provides a beautiful framework for voluntourism and relief to those in need in remote parts of the world.
