Refuge staff work together to manage the habitat for birds, plants, wildlife and people at Stillwater NWR: A maintenance crew keeps the roads and trails open and accessible as best as conditions allow. A biologist keeps an eye on the condition and health of the refuge (plants, birds, wildlife, habitats) and determines when and where water flows during the irrigation season. A Visitor Services specialist keeps information and maps updated, provides guided tours, answers visitor questions, works with partners to provide education programs and events. A Fire Specialist works to keep habitat clear of invasive species, and provide open areas for water to flow on the refuge. Office staff manage the day-to-day business side of the refuge by paying bills, managing work contracts and personnel; ordering supplies, tracking refuge property and maintaining partner and stakeholder connections.
