The 450-acre Rosemont Estate has been in the Rose family since 1858, and the home place dates back to the mid-1700s. Over generations, the Rose family has farmed various crops, including vegetable farming, a peach orchard, beef cattle, dairy farming, hay, tobacco, corn, and soybeans. In 2003, Rosemont Vineyards planted over 32,000 grape vines across 22 acres, and their winemaker, Justin Rose, came back to help with the new family venture. In the fall of 2006, Justin enrolled at Napa Valley College to study viticulture and oenology while interning at O'Shaughnessy winery and Capiaux Cellars. Justin returned to Rosemont to oversee the final construction of Rosemont Winery in 2007 and led the first harvest and wine production of Rosemont of Virginia wines. Since then, Rosemont's wines have won numerous awards, including 'Best in Show' at the 2010 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition.
