Nestled in the serene town of Penryn, California, Ride To Walk is a remarkable establishment that is transforming the lives of children and young adults with neurological disabilities. With a steadfast commitment to enhancing the well-being of its community members, Ride To Walk offers innovative therapeutic horseback riding activities that are tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each individual.
Led by the visionary Dr. Kristine Corn, Ride To Walk is dedicated to providing a positive support system for individuals with disabilities and their parents/caregivers. Through their recreational and adaptive riding programs, they create an environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.
Dr. Kris, as she is affectionately known, brings a wealth of expertise to the program. With an extensive background in treating children with neurological disabilities, she has vast experience in working with conditions such as cerebral palsy, Autism and Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, and muscular dystrophies, among others. Her deep understanding of these conditions allows her to tailor the therapeutic activities to meet the specific needs of each participant.
Ride To Walk's success story began with a singular pony named Freckles. Dr. Kris purchased Freckles locally and started the program by taking rides up and down the driveway behind Sierra Pediatric Therapy Clinic. Over time, the program expanded as it caught the attention of riding enthusiast Judy McNabb, who shared Dr. Kris's vision of providing a riding program for children with disabilities.
Situated on 21 picturesque acres of rolling land, Ride To Walk offers a tranquil setting that adds to the therapeutic experience. As the riders interact with the horses, they develop not only physical strength and coordination but also emotional connection and confidence. The horses become trusted companions, supporting the riders on their journey toward improved motor skills, balance, and overall well-being.
The impact of Ride To Walk reaches far beyond the individual riders. The program creates a sense of community and support for parents and caregivers, who find solace and encouragement in connecting with others facing similar challenges. Additionally, Ride To Walk actively engages with the local community, organizing events like the annual Ranch Run, a VW car show fundraiser that generates invaluable resources for this exceptional facility.
Ride To Walk is more than just a therapeutic horseback-riding program; it is a beacon of hope and joy for children and young adults with neurological disabilities. Driven by their mission and guided by their passion, Ride To Walk continues to inspire and transform lives, one ride at a time.
