Guerrilla Graphix's owner and co-founder, Travis Parkin, was born in Johnstown, New York, and over the years, lived and worked in Albany, New York City, San Francisco, Taos and Albuquerque. In 1981 he opened Dead End Fashions, a punk clothing store in San Francisco's Mission District. Three years later Parkin opened his first nightclub, The 16th Note, in a vacant San Francisco firehouse on 16th Street. In 1986 Travis moved to Taos, New Mexico, where he operated a bohemian lodging establishment, The Laughing Horse Inn. A few years later he co-founded Ramona's Dance Hall, a popular--albeit short-lived--Taos nightclub that hosted a number of national acts. Following the demise of Ramona's in 1992, Parkin relocated to Albuquerque where he launched a small, independent graphic design firm that has evolved to become what is today, Guerrilla Graphix.
