Established in November 1978 by Steven Reiley and Philip Greenberg, Guarneri House was initially known as Guarneri Violin Shop. In 1981, the shop moved to "the house on the hill" and changed its name to Guarneri House. The shop has undergone several transformations over the years, and in 2014, Steven and Paula Reiley retired from Guarneri House. The next generation took over the business and changed the name to Guarneri House LLC.

The violin shop is now owned by Aaron Reiley and his wife Linda Reiley, who are expanding the business in many ways. Although they are retired, Steven and Paula still work at the shop one day a week, and Steven still rehairs and repairs bows on Wednesdays, as well as appraising instruments and bows. Aaron constructed his first double bass, a Panormo model, patterned after a double bass owned by concert artist and teacher Larry Angell. The first bass that Aaron entered in the International Society of Bassists maker's competition received high marks from the judges in 2003. In the ISB convention in 2011, Aaron received the Silver Medal in Tone and Honorable Mention for convention favorite on Opus 8.
