Melissa's background is in academic teaching, and prior to opening Creative Cardio/Music in Motion, she owned a tutoring franchise. As a gifted writer & teacher, she was groomed by teachers, guidance counselors and family members to become a teacher of language and writing. However, although very creative, Melissa ignored her passion for dancing, acting and putting on a show in her professional life. As a child, she would put on plays for the neighborhood children and her family and write fictional novels for fun. No guidance counselor would ever advise this as a paying career. However, in 2009, Melissa met Michael T., a new, popular Zumba Instructor at her local gym. They decided to teach Zumba for themselves by opening an LLC with their family and good friends. Once this business became popular, Michael became a DJ and Melissa began to put on shows with adults and children! Now they continue to work together to build a business based on passion, creativity and team work!
