At the age of 7, Michael was enthusiastic about the martial arts. Growing up, he would watch the movies of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Gordon Liu, and many others on Black Belt and Kung Fu Theater.
In 1997, he started training in Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai, Escrima, and Silat under Guru Cass Magda.
At 5'4" & 130 pounds, Michael learned how to train against much taller, heavier, and stronger opponents who had MMA training and could use weapons such as a knife or stick.
From this experience, Michael developed a modified training method for women that accounts for the difference in physical size & strength as well as for differences in cultural and social conditioning.
Recently, he has worked on developing a program for the streets geared towards the average person to learn how counter the MMA training popularized by shows such as the UFC.
In 2012, Michael continues to train & share these arts with those that are willing to invest the time & energy into their own personal evolution.
