Business Description
A native of Hawaii, Dr. Tanaka is a graduate of Pearl City High School. Soon after graduating, he relocated to Oregon where he earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from Pacific University and Portland State University. While in Oregon, he resided in a predominant Hispanic community, which influenced him to pursue his career at the only bilingual, American optometry school; the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Tanaka completed clinical internships earning "high honors" in primary eye care, cornea and contact lenses, learning disabilities, low vision, ocular diseases, and vision therapy. He served as the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) Trustee representing his school nationally and is a member of the National Scholars Honor Society. In 2002, he was a recipient of the distinguished GP Lens Institute Clinical Excellence Award and in 2003 he received the AOSA Outstanding Leadership Award.
