It took them two and a half years to realize their dream, and since then, they have sought to provide the best possible experience to the Beaufort area. Originally located in Port Royal's city center, the studio prospered and developed a broad clientele base, tattooing people across all walks of life.

In 2012, Yes It Hurts Tattoos relocated and merged with American Tradition Tattoos in Shell Point. In 2013, they took over American Tradition and are now back under the Yes It Hurts name. The artists currently working at Yes It Hurts Tattoos include Billy Smith, Angi Smith, and Chip Vickers.

Billy and Angi have been married for ten years and enjoy a special relationship. They have known each other for over 25 years, meeting in grade school. They also have four children. Billy is a former US Marine who served for eight years before being medically discharged after serving in Iraq. He began his tattooing career while still serving in the Marines and has been tattooing full time since his discharge. Angi is a former body piercer who made the move to become a tattoo artist when the two of them opened Yes It Hurts Tattoos.
