Business Description

As a kid, Rick Civelli spent his summers exploring estuaries, clamming, fishing, and of course surfing. This initial exposure to the marine world led Rick to UNCW where he earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and a master's degree in Coastal Geology. After college he worked for the NC Aquarium and the NC Division of Coastal Management, and these experiences illustrated the importance of marine conservation.

Since establishing WB Surf Camp, Rick has taught thousands of children, teens, and adults the art of surfing and emphasized the need to protect our ocean resources. His company is committed to giving back, both to the environment and his community. Last year, WB Surf Camp has awarded over $35,000 in scholarships and contributed over 1,000 hours of community service. In addition to this, Surf Camp continues to support the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital and to-date have donated over $25,000 to help save the sea turtles.
