Originally built by Elizabeth Gates, wife of a wholesale grocery merchant, this Free Classic style mansion was home to some of the principal leaders of Indianapolis at the turn of the twentieth century.

Since its purchase by the Life family in 1996, The Looking Glass Inn has been providing overnight accommodations in historic downtown Indianapolis. After extensive renovations, the inn opened its doors to the public in February of 1999, and has been providing a unique and unforgettable bed and breakfast experience ever since.
