It is the only independent new bookstore in the city and has been serving the community since it took over a Tower Books location on Broadway in 2007. The store's founder is a true Sacramento native, having grown up in Land Park and graduated from University High. He received his graduate degree in Russian History at UCLA and his JD degree from Vanderbilt. After practicing law in Richmond, Virginia for three years, he returned to Sacramento to take over the family farm. He has since served as a school board member in Davis for ten years and a term on the Davis City Council. He currently chairs the California Citizens Redistricting Commission and is active in Sister Cities International.
