The State Theatre Center for the Arts, located in historic downtown Easton, PA, has been entertaining audiences for nearly a century. Originally opened in 1926 on the B.F. Keith vaudeville circuit, the non-profit, member-supported State Theatre has since become a beloved institution in the community, presenting a diverse schedule of performances every season, including popular music, comedy, Broadway musicals, and family entertainment.
With its 1,500-seat main hall, The State Theatre Center for the Arts also includes The Gallery, a contemporary fine arts space, and the Acopian Ballroom, which are used for performance and special events. The eclectic facility and individual rooms are available for rentals, including weddings. The State Theatre has also created and annually produces The FREDDY© Awards, a live television broadcast that recognizes outstanding achievement in high school musical theater in Lehigh and Northampton Counties of PA and Warren County, NJ.
The theatre's architecture is a sight to behold, inspired by the architecture of old Spain and the Davanzanti Place in Florence, Italy. Many local Italian artisans created the elaborate frescoes and gilding. Its lobby and foyer, originally adorned with beautiful frescos, were painted brown and blue during the 1970s, but have since been restored to their former glory.
Membership to the State Theatre includes advanced ticket purchasing and show notification. Patrons can join the theatre's email list at www.statetheatre.org for updates and special offers. The State Theatre Center for the Arts has been voted Best of the Valley (Lehigh Valley Magazine, 11 years), Readers' Choice (Morning Call, 3 years), and 100 Reasons to live in the Lehigh Valley (Lehigh). The theatre is open two hours prior to performances, and tickets are available for purchase 24-hours a day.
