LouAnn is the owner of Southpass Beads in Cobden. She developed an interest in jewelry making in 2002 while also working full time at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in the School of Art and Design. In 2010, she opened the brick and mortar store. She has since retired from SIUC after 30 years of service and devotes all her time to running Southpass Beads. In 2016, she added yarn and embroidery supplies to the shop's inventory and the business name officially changed to Southpass Beads and Fibers. LouAnn actively teaches classes at the shop, designs jewelry and continues to expand her knowledge of knitting. She is a member of the Union County Women in Business, Cobden Business Association and SRAJD (Self Representing Artist in Jewelry Design).
