Dave graduated from BYU in 1982 with a BS in Computer Science. He worked as a software developer for a few years before starting a software company that offered contract programming services. Later the company developed a file transfer utility called FastLynx that sold over 100,000 copies. In 2001, the market for that software was declining, so the company switched gears and became an Internet retailer of cables and adapters. Dave went back to BYU to get an MS in Computer Science in 1997 and then again for an MBA in 2009.
Dave and his wife, Susan, live in Provo and have six children. Dave's hobbies and interests include astronomy, chess, ping pong, and science fiction.
