Emily, a San Fernando Valley native, has a background in dance and was originally introduced to Pilates through Jennifer Wilson in order to strengthen her dancing technique and address her scoliosis. From the start, she fell in love with the Pilates method. As someone who loves dance and movement, Pilates appeals to her because it encourages a person to truly be in tune with their bodies- strengthening the whole body with long, lean muscles, while maneuvering choreographically through the various exercises. Emily became a certified instructor in 2010 and has training with both West Coast and Classical New York styles. Following a labral tear in her hip, she was able to use her knowledge of Pilates and her understanding of the body to successfully rehabilitate herself. She believes that with the right approach, and a little tender love and care, the body is capable of anything.
