Business Description
Lucie grew up in the 1970s playing outdoors every day in all four of New Hampshire's seasons. She spent time with family hiking and hunting, and then canoeing and mountain biking with friends. Her high school cross country ski coach told the team, many of whom were trying to decide what to do with the rest of their lives, "It's not what you want to BE when you grow up, it's what you want to LEARN ABOUT along the way." Lucie loved children and teaching and eventually got college degrees in environment science, childhood studies, outdoor education, and business. After much experience, including taking the ALEC (advanced leadership and emergency care) course at SOLO Schools, and then a 32-day Canada Canoe course with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), where she learned first-hand about camping, survival, group dynamics, and whitewater canoeing, she decided she was ready to start guiding to help people explore the natural world and teach them lifelong skills.
