Juan is a jazz guitarist and the musical director at Live! Modern School of Music. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, he grew up playing traditional Colombian music, and went on to study Jazz Guitar at Broward College. Early in his career, Juan became involved in music education, determined to make music accessible to everyone. He decided to team up with his brother Daniel and wife Luciana, and together they founded Live! Modern School of Music in the fall of 2007. He is passionate about collaborating with fellow educational and arts organizations, and believes in using music as a tool to help bring communities together. An advocate for education, Juan is a graduate of the Creative Entrepreneurship program at Berlin University of the Arts and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Orchestration and Arranging from Berklee College of Music. Most recently, Juan learned the craft of guitar making at an intimate workshop in Berlin with Argentinian luthier Leo Lospenatto.
