Business Description

Marcio Stambowsky was born on February 22,1959 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was Mauricio Gomes, Stambowsky's closest childhood friend, who convinced Marcio to start training Jiu Jitsu, Mauricio already trained and competed at the time, advising Macarrão to join Rolls Gracie's academy which he did in 1975.

Roll's academy was one of the most impressive Jiu Jitsu hubs in the world during the 1970′s, and Marcio shared the mats daily with future legends of the sport such as Romero Cavalcanti, Fabio Santos, Rickson, Carlinhos & Royler Gracie among many others. The gym also had the added advantage of also sharing the building with Carlson Gracie and his team where he met and befriended other BJJ figures such as Fernando Pinduka. In 1978, however, the two academies (Rolls and Carlson's) would split and work as rival teams in competitions, although still sharing the same premises. A strange chemistry that seemed to work for the two Gracie brothers.
