Formerly known as Watercress Springs, the grounds of Cub River Lodge hold a rich history. Legend has it that the Shoshone Indians would camp here during their journeys between their summer hunting grounds in Wyoming and their winter camps near the Hot Water Springs on the Bear River. The allure of good food, shelter, and a warm water spring made this a welcome respite for weary travelers. The property was later owned by the Hull family, who built two buildings and a spring-fed warm-water pool in 1987. In 2014, the visionary Murdock family purchased the property, giving rise to Cub River Lodge, Guest Ranch & RV Park.
Denise Murdock Avery, the guiding force behind Cub River Lodge, has poured her heart and soul into creating a safe and enjoyable environment for guests. Raised on a farm, Denise learned the value of determination and hard work from an early age. With 30 years of marriage and 10 children, she knows the importance of family and cherishing moments spent with loved ones. Despite facing adversity, including the loss of her second husband in a plane accident, Denise continues to share the beauty and warmth of Cub River Lodge with countless families, youth groups, and businesses.
The accommodations at Cub River Lodge are cozy and inviting, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests. Whether you choose the guest house or the RV park, you'll find a home away from home.
