Past exhibits have included Down the Shore: The Coastal Heritage of New Jersey, New Jersey's Gilded Age: Opulence, Struggle, & Innovation, Call the Doctor! Call the Nurse!: A History of Medicine in New Jersey 1775-1975, Icons of American Culture: History of New Jersey Diners, Over There, Over Here: New Jersey During WWI, and Mid-Century New Jersey: The Garden State in the 1950s.

Currently, visitors can explore Treasures of Middlesex County, an exhibit featuring historically significant artifacts dating back more than 300 years. The collection includes muskets from the Middlesex Brigade, historic maps, 18th-century documents, local ceramics, furniture from 18th and early 19th-century craftspeople, and more.
