In September 2001, he began cooking part-time at his family's business, Charlie Brown's Neighborhood Bar & Grill, and used the commercial kitchen for catering jobs. In September 2003, he decided to leave the Westin and manage the kitchen for Charlie Brown's and focus on the catering business full-time.
