Located in the heart of Boulder, Colorado, Boulder Symphony is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting symphonic arts and culture. The Symphony has been entertaining, educating, and nurturing music appreciation in the community for over a decade. The Symphony's mission is to provide affordable live concerts of classical and modern symphonic performances that can be enjoyed by music lovers of all ages.
Boulder Symphony is more than just a place to enjoy music. It supports the creative development of artists by providing venues for musicians and composers to present new symphonic works. The Symphony also reaches out to youth, seniors, and other community members through collaborative live concerts, chamber concerts, outreach, and education programs.
The Symphony's home base is the First Presbyterian Church, located in the social heart of Boulder, only one block from the world-renowned Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall. The Symphony's inaugural concert season was themed "Intrepid Explorers," reflecting its commitment to consistent innovation, the joy of discovery, and the propagation of classical music through its youth music education and outreach programs. In only its third season, Boulder Symphony has become a classical music staple of the regional community, sharing its passion for music through thrilling and critically-acclaimed performances, world premieres, and support of new symphonic music.
Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Devin Patrick Hughes, Boulder Symphony has become a fixture of the Boulder community. Hughes has held posts as Music Director of the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association, Denver Contemporary Chamber Players, Resident Conductor of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, Assistant Conductor for the Denver Young Artists Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra. Recently, he was the only American selected with eleven other conductors worldwide as a finalist in the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition in Parma, Italy and also conducted at the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen under the mentorship of Robert Spano, Hugh Wolf, and Larry Rachleff.
Boulder Symphony is more than just a symphony. It is a community of passionate music lovers who are dedicated to bringing the joy of symphonic music to the Colorado front range community.
