Business Description

The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site is a historic landmark and museum located in Indianapolis, IN that honors the life and legacy of the 23rd President of the United States. The museum is housed in the former residence of President Benjamin Harrison and showcases an impressive collection of artifacts and memorabilia from Harrison's life and presidency.

Visitors to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site can explore ten rooms that have been beautifully preserved with period furnishings and Harrison family possessions. Over 3,700 artifacts and 2,440 books are on display throughout the home, with about 75% of the items belonging to the Harrisons themselves. The third floor ballroom has been transformed into a space for rotating exhibits, featuring Harrison Home artifacts as well as borrowed pieces.

The Harrison Home is rich in history and provides an intimate glimpse into the life of one of America's lesser-known presidents. Built in 1874-1875 by Harrison and his wife Caroline, the home was their residence until Harrison's death in 1901. The family continued to live in the home until 1913, and Harrison's second wife Mary Lord Harrison ensured that the home and its artifacts would be forever preserved when she sold it to the Jordan Conservatory of Music. After a period of use as a dormitory, the home was eventually opened as a historic site and museum in 1966.

The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site is a must-see for history buffs and anyone interested in the lives of America's presidents. The museum provides a unique and personal experience as visitors can walk in the footsteps of one of our nation's leaders and see the world through his eyes. With rotating exhibits and an extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia, there is always something new to discover at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site.
