Bakanas Flowers & Gifts has a rich history, having started in 1968 by Ray and Eileen Bakanas. In their original storefront with an attached greenhouse located behind their family home in Mt. Laurel, they sold Easter plants and geraniums grown on site. With no public water available, they dug a well to supply water for the "growing" business! As their business blossomed, they expanded their offerings to annual bedding plants and perennials, poinsettias, tropical green plants, and fall mums.

On October 1, 1978, they celebrated their 10th business anniversary by opening their second and current location in the then newly constructed Allison Shopping Center, next to the Allison Apartments on Maple Avenue in Marlton, NJ. Forty years and several renovations later, they are still easily found on the corner of Route 70 and Maple Avenue.
