Business Description

I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. After teaching in Perrrysburg, Ohio and Cincinnati Public Schools, I decided to start a business which would be art enrichment for school aged children. Other than the Art Academy, on Mt Adams at the time, there were no avenues for kids who wanted to explore art outside of school. There was certainly no place in the suburbs. So, living in Wyoming, and down the street from a school, I decided to open a business in my home. Soon, I was teaching 50 students a week, including home school kids and adults! That's when a move to the newly opened Wyoming Fine Art Center happened. The need for this kind of art enrichment in kids lives was evident and the business grew. In 2009, we moved to Queen City Clay (Funke Fired Arts) building in Hyde Park and have been thriving there ever since. Despite the increase in places for kids to go for art classes and camps, ours remains highly regarded.
